Great mash-up album: Producer Danger Mouse's The Grey Album fused the vocals and beats from Jay-Z's "Black Album" with music sampled entirely from the Beatles' "White Album." MTV reports that the music corporation, who control the rights to The Beatles sound recordings, issued the order against independent record shops that were stocking the mix CD. But the entire Album is still availabe as MP3 at illegal-art.org.
This Mix is an exciting audio mash-up of mainly 20th century pop-music. Hundreds of artists, like William S. Burroughs, Madonna, Public Enemy and the Beatles are sampled, pitched and layered. It's also a history of Mixing and Cut-up. Sounds a bit like Negativland, who are also part of this huge soundfile. Via Thingsmagazine.
